of just deceased celebrities borders on the macabre? The coverage of Jackson's death reminds me of the hours of minutiae covering Anna Nicole Smith's passing.

I know, due to the nature of the death, unexpected, seemingly before their time, lurid details regarding their lives abound and were reflected in their passing, but honestly, it's just too much information.

Even if they just updated on the hour, instead of speaking to every doctor, lawyer and publicist they ever had contact with, for hours, I think that would be enough.

I don't think we needed all cable channels to cover the helicopter lift off of his body last night.

Ok...end of rant.

Heck I think Obama might have had him snuffed now come to think about it. MJ was fixing to go on a European tour...That sure would take the steam away from fifteen town halls a week from the White House

I think it's sad that we have soldiers dying every day and they don't get as much as a blip on the radar. I get it...rock legend...but let's get a little perspective here. The fact that each major morning show was nothing but coverage of that was a bit over the top....ok, more than a bit.

Exactly! Thank you. That is my point. There are people much more deserving of our attention. Important events, a possible revolution in Iran...hellllllllllllllloooo!...and the media is fixated on a deviate.

It's over the top, but for some reason appeals to the lowest common denominators of our society.

And it's only just begun :thumbdown I mean, what's worse that MJ alive?

To say this country needs to get it's priorities straight it a vast understatement.

and BTW - he was pop. I'd quit listening to rock otherwise

I agree. Those interested in the coverage are not only his fans but that element who are waiting for the purient details to emerge. I cannot hear listen to this blathering on about his contribution to the music industry while they gloss over the bad stuff.
