It would seem that these days with high speed Internet that more and more people are looking at other alternatives to stream movies and TV programs. There was a time that Cable and Satellite was the only option we had to get the upgraded viewing of movies, sport events and certain TV programs. Now that is no longer the case. There are many websites now where people can subscribe to in order to get countless forms of entertainment to stream, such as Hulu and Netflix.

Also, now some premium channles such as HBO have jumped onto the streaming band wagon. There are also cable networks that offer live streaming of their programs on their websites. Maybe it will still take time but I have to say there are signs of cable becoming obsolete because of these options. One of the main signs is the fact tha cable keeps raising its prices this is a clear sign that something isn't right because odds are they are raising their prices because they have lost money due to subscribers leaving the service.

So, I think its a matter of time and Cable will be on the way out thanks to the streaming services now provided, what do you think?

I hope not.
I got rid of my satellite due to precip.
When it rains I lose the signal until it stops.
When it snows same thing.
I have more channels with cable.

It's funny, this thread is almost a decade old and it's safe to say almost 10 years later cable is pretty much dead at this point. I don't know anyone who has cable or satellite other than hotels. Plus one of the hotels I stayed at recently allowed guests to connect their phones so you could use streaming services via your phone. Plus there's free alternatives you can get with smart tvs now.

I believe so yes, I don’t see too many people actually using cable these days. A lot of people are using streaming services these days to watch Tv instead of actual cable,

There’s more offerings via streaming services than cable.

I agree with you. Hulu and Netflix are steadily gaining more subscribers every year. Viewers can get better entertainment value from streaming services since they cost less and provide various programs compared to traditional cable television.

Yes, cable is increasingly on the way out as more people switch to streaming services for on-demand content, personalized options, and more flexible pricing. The rise of platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ has shifted entertainment consumption, with younger generations especially preferring digital over traditional cable.

My internet service provider gives me free cable TV subscription. If I was not getting it for free, I would have stopped using it a long time ago.

I wouldn't say that cable is on the way out as I know many people who still use cable and use it regularly. Streaming services are on the up and are more popular than cable but there will always be someone who prefers cable over streaming services.
