......on the internet?

I remember when this company I worked for finally got an internet connection. It was in the Spring of '96. I had never been on the internet before; didn't have it at home.

I stayed on the internet for 2 1/2 days solid at work; didn't even do ANY of my work. (I was in charge of myself, so I guess I could have punished myself!) One of the first things I remember doing is signing up for a Yahoo! e-mail address. Oh, so exciting, I know!! :cool

I do. My friend introduced me to this game called Command and Conquer. With buying the game you got the westwood chat software downloaded onto your computer as well.

So I start playing the game online through DIALUP and eventually get within the ranks of top 5 in the world leading in that game.

Man I miss those days of no responsibility and staying up all night playing that game kicking ass.

It was probably 7th grade, so... 96-97 or so?

In 9th grade, my band director created a project for us where we had to use the internet. Band took the place of any sort of technology elective for most of us. Got my first email address that way.

My first time on the internet was on a dreamcast. Some shitty chatroom where I had to use the controler and joystick to pick my letters, one at a time. *blah*

I remember. I was at my ex-brother-in-law's house. He introduced me to mIRC. I was in 5th or 6th grade I believe. I spent so much time on IRC when I was younger.

I literally introduced Warez/mp3's to my school. I also remember teaching my computer teacher how to make a webpage in 7th grade. lol

I remember getting my first e-mail from Al Gore welcoming me to his internet (Al Gore took credit for inventing the internet when he ran for president).

Seriously, it was 1991 or 92 and I was trying to get a project off the ground for the next morning and it was 8 p.m. when I realized I need a file or program. I connected to the internet via a 24 BAUD phone modem and connected to get the file.

Most of the internet was similar to Off Topicz, more like a bulletin board type service. I was happy to get the file I needed, but was un-impressed with the internet and it was probably 1995 when it resembled anything like the internet we know today.

Well, this is a laugh now - cos I remember my first time, not that long ago - when I used to mod a forum no longer existing, but had to do it frm the library, cos not long got my comp before I came on here and then I got it frm someone else - was cheap tho - the internet friggin freaked me - even just doing e - mails!!!

Now, though, I love doing e - mails, but dnt get time much, love chatting on here (erm, just incase no-one noticed that lol) but still need the tech skill!!! Dnt think the latter will ever happen somehow!!! :D

Even though I despise Gore, he did promote it well and helped get it to where it is today, however the Department of Defense created it back in the 60s.

I remember getting on for the first time in 1995. I also remember discovering that it took forever to download porn pics over 2400 baud. I remember being excited when I went to 28000 and then ultimately 56k. Those were the days. Seeing a row by row of pixels painting that image, lol.
