Well, then voting for McCain shouldn't be in your best bet!

Did you know that in North America you are more likely to be attacked and killed by a polar bear then a wolf? Because there is no recorded instance where a wolf has actually been responsible for a persons death. But, she wants them wiped out??

I didn't bother viewing the video in detail as we've been seeing a lot of animal abuse videos in the past couple of weeks and I prefer not to see them at all. But, that aside...

That's a really sweeping - and inaccurate statement - that a wolf has never been responsible for a person's death. And claiming Palin wants wolves wiped out is also wrong.

Do I agree with aerial hunting (under any name) - no. But I also don't agree with skewing the facts in order to sway a decision.

A rule you'll learn, is that if we are going to co-exist on a planet that has other creatures, sometimes that requires mankind to step in and help with population control.

What fascinates me is the animal rights activists are far more concerend with the life of the wolf, than wether one of them wanders off into a fishing villiage and eats a child.

And if you don't control them, they will eat everything....And I mean everything

I just watched this video. It shows people hunting wolves from airplanes- not really animal abuse, other than them being shot and killed. ;) Why is a bounty is being offered for wolves? Are they trying to get rid of them or is there an over population problem with wolves in Alaska? I live in an area where there are so many deer in developed city areas that periodically they are culled by contractors and I acknowledge in most areas that if deer numbers were not controlled by hunting, we'd be overrun. Is this the case in Alaska? Bounties to me usually mean you are trying to get rid of something.

How often does that happen I wonder? Are you advocating getting rid of wolves because you're worried about them eating children? :D

It happens a lot, here the coyote population runs off the charts, and they need to be destroyed to a point to get the numbers down, they will ravage heards of cattle, hogs, chickens and virtually anything else they can eat.

My point is, there has to be a balance with everything;)

Let's not get hysterical with everything

Human beings are the bacteria that is going to over run and kill the ecosystem by consuming everything unless we get our collective act together. Humans killing each other has always helped keep the numbers down. ;) But birth control to start out with would be better.

Except there isn't a reported instants of a wolf killing a child or anyone else for that matter. It is beyond population control as they don't know how many wolves there are so I don't see them controlling a population they don't understand.

That's what factcheck.org (link above to the specific article re Palin) states, that they're cutting down the wolf population within specific areas; and that the grey wolf is not endangered in Alaska (unlike the lower 48). On the flipside, factcheck also links to DOW's response on why they're against it. Cut out the emotional garbage and they've got some good points, too.

I haven't heard before that coyote and wolf populations are similar in their behaviors or interactions. I think how many problems there are depends largely on how much of the land the animals have lost and to survive, need to enter human territory. Not a good match for either side.

Definitely! Maybe "first and foremost".

Except there isn't a reported instants of a wolf killing a child or anyone else for that matter.

While not common-place, there are reports of wolves killing humans. This is not to make wolves out as the "bad guys" because I don't believe that we can blame an animal for being what it is (and people who keep them as pets are just helping to support the hysteria against wolves when something goes wrong).

But if you want to continue to defend the wolves, more research will help you provide correct information so you'll have a solid base to work from.
