Do VR Games Encourage Empathy or Exploitation?

Some games let you experience life through others’ perspectives, even in tragic situations. Are these experiences powerful tools for empathy or voyeurism disguised as empathy?

I think they can be both, depending on how they’re designed and played. when games handle sensitive stories respectfully, they genuinely build empathy. But if tragedy becomes entertainment, it risks turning human pain into emotional spectacle instead of understanding.

I do not see VR gaming as an exploitation as I believe this is just another method to experience fun. However, I do believe it can help players with their emotional and mental health and it blurs the line between what is real and what is unreal, thus letting players to experience fun in the virtual way in a way that it feels very real
