With fast travel and comfort everywhere, ancient routes feel symbolic. Do modern pilgrims still gain the same depth of reflection that people once did on foot?

I think pilgrimage has become more popular than in the past. I see more people visiting places of religious importance. That's because social media has spread the news and due to the transportation development it has also become easier to visit these places.

I think the essence of pilgrimage is more about intention than distance. Even with modern travel, if someone approaches the journey with humility and openness, it can still be deeply reflective. But walking those routes probably adds a kind of stillness and presence that’s harder to replicate.
