Is there anyone else out there besides me who thinks that Hollywood's gossip tabloids and paparazzi have gotten way out of hand since the Internet became a hit?

I mean, they were always cruel and invasive with celebrities before - but the way they seem to jerk the general public around with their supposedly 'entertaining' stories and outright LIES about the lives of celebrities, just to get a reaction (make money) out of their fans seems like a serious abuse of our cherished concept of Freedom of Speech.

Why does the life, liberty and pursuit of happiness part of the beloved US Constitution not apply to celebrities - just because we love them?

Did you know that there is a petition out in Internetland to get Hollywood's media mongols to initiate their OWN INDUSTRY REFORMS without messing around with current laws?

Seems like a pretty good idea, to me. :):clap

Yes, there should be a law to protect people while on private property. Camera's with a zoom lens can snap a celebrity from a long distance, it's like being spied on waiting for a picture that will sell. But that is the price of fame i guess..

They have always been out of hand, and they use the freedom of the press as a shield to stand behind when anyone wants to take them to task over what they are doing. The internet just gave them an easier outlet from which to do what they do.

Unfortunately, it is the general public that gives them this power as they are the ones who eat up the gossip they spew.
