Yikes ... I was wondering about that.

It must be hard for dispatchers ...

Is the call TRULY a life threatening call or an emotional exaggeration? That would be a really difficult spot to be in. I'm sure there is a lot of training and guidelines pointing to how to determine the difference but in the end, it still has to be a personal call to make.

IMHO, the dispatcher did the best they could given the circumstances after reading the call text:

Undoubtedly the dispatcher still wishes that they'd grabbed the urgency of the situation - who wouldn't given the result.

Lovrak said in an exclusive interview on “Dateline NBC” in early January that he wished he’d “recognized the urgency of the situation.”

“You don’t automatically default to the notion that the person you’re dealing with is a pyschopath,” he said during an interview, adding, “This has been a nightmare.”

Lovrak also said his handling of the call was "clumsy and faltering."

"It's painful to listen to," he said of the recording. "Realizing what we all know now, I wish I'd recognized the urgency of the situation."
