This isn't just in Georgia though... it's all over the country. It seems like the only Democrats that want to be associated with Obama are the ones who believe their jobs to be secure or who aren't up for election this cycle. This goes far beyond what we saw with members of the GOP distancing themselves from Bush in the mid-term elections of his second term. It seems to be all over the country, ranging from state races to congressional ones.
His support amongst independent voters has nearly completely eroded at this point after he proved himself to be a flat-out liberal and not the moderate he campaigned as. I think this is scaring the mainstream Democratic party now, so the majority of them seem to be diving back toward the center.
