Deists and scientists: peaceful coexistence

I would very much like to know what people on this website think about peaceful coexistence between those who study our material world (scientists) and those who study our spiritual world (theologians). My attempt to write an essay on that subject failed, as you can see at:

http://csam.montclair.edu/~kowalski/theology3.html

The webpage was prepared to generate a discussion. Those who post comments should refer to specific “contributions,” as numbered (or to specific persons, as numbered at the beginning). This will simplify the discussion.

And let us keep in mind that the main topic is peaceful coexistence. Is it possible? Is it desirable? What should we do promote it? etc.

Thank you in advance,

If the idea is to review your link and reference other's numbered comments when you reply, this is more work than I want to do. Now if you want input on peaceful coexistence:

Yes it is possible, it is a good thing. What makes it possible is when the theists stop trying to discredit the scientists who in many cases are theists too. Stop trying to bend facts to suit your religious view. Faith is based on faith only. No facts to back the theist up, just a feeling.

Science is based on and backed up by empirical evidence. In some ways science is focused on the nuts and bolts, while faith is based on a vague, spiritual, philosophical feeling. It is amazing that the two camps bother to debate each other at all. But those who seem to vigorously object the most are the theists who feel that science is attempting to discredit their faith. This is not to paint everyone in black and white colors, as you are a 100% faith based theist vs 100% knowledge based scientist. There are all flavors of belief out there.
