I like it, but I feel the hint of yellow in the background detracts a bit... a bit too random. If there was more yellow in the background it would be better I think.

Art is one of the those things I either like or don't like. But now that Satin has pointed out the yellow, it really bothers me. It should be gone completely.

(My fave was the make-a-wish dandelion with the little things falling off.)

I know very little about plants and I like the shot insofar as the plant in focus goes but the bokeh is hideous imho. Hope you don't mind my forthrightness.

I think if the background wasn't so blurred and you could see a bit more detail with that plant still sticking out would be better. Otherwise the picture just doesn't jump out at me other than there is something not right and I really think it's the blurred background.

It's a fair point. I try to offer critique as part of any input if I see anything that I feel could have improved the pic. Whether the recipient pays any attention to my input on the rare occasions I do, is of course up to them but I never mean to offend anyone.

In your case, I guess you may not have really been able to do anything much with what I said depending on the lens you used and so on. I'll stop there as I know jack about Canon lenses etc.

if the background is blurred thene the object needs to be more centered and with more detail

based on those two things not being quite right it is not that good in my opinion

Sorry buddy but you asked so I'm a gunna speak my mind.

It doesn't do anything for me. Way too much background which I find very distracting. It takes away from the subject which I think is boring to begin with. I like plant photography but there should be something to look at instead of a far away image of a dead thing. It would have probably made an interesting macro shot.

Got to admit, and I'm no expert but there is too much blurred background for a tiny clear focus point and one which seems to be shoved over to one side. Sorry.
