Crime and punishment.

In theory the laws should be protecting me but in reality it seems the criminals are more protected then the victims. I don't think sentences for murder/man slaughter and rape or long enough either

The laws do very little to protect the innocent .
There is to much concern for the rights of the accused and convicted then there is for the victims.

Having worked in law enforcement the last 5 years or so, I can say that there are certain laws that do very well in protecting citizens. However, there are way too many technicalities that allow criminals to get away with their crimes. I think that the criminal justice system is very flawed, and that it's only going to get worse. How can you have people handing out punishments and committing crimes themselves and not being punished for it??

'Justice' based on mob mentality is not justice at all.

I think that for the most part, the punishments fit the crime. But I think once someone is the victim of a crime, their perception of whether the punishment is fair is no longer reliable. Most people want to hurt those who hurt them more than the system allows.

I'm not sure if laws really protect against crime. I don't think they always prevent people committing crime in the first place, but hopefully the punishment would then discourage further offenses.
