I forgot to take my seroquel last night, and decided to try and fall asleep without it... yeah, that didn't turn out so well.

My son used to take that and my nephew takes it.....he takes 150 mg and still has sleeping issues, and he's 12. YIKES! I took it when the doctor prescribed it, slept like a dead rock, but the mood swing after that was the worst thing I have ever seen so I never took it again. It does produce marvelous sleep though! Ahhhhhhh.....

did not know it helped with sleep

but I would be more worried about the issues it was prescribed for not being dealt with

Unless missing a day is no big deal

Nah, I have other meds for my craziness. Seroquel is just an added med to help me fall asleep.

not arguing but that is not what the info I read states. Your other issues is exactly what is prescribed for. Maybe they got you on a so called cocktail of meds as my former shrink used to call them.

Seroquel causes drowsiness in a majority of patients, hence the prescription for it. I have a medication that I take twice a day for my bi-polar which keeps it somewhat under control... at least more than if I wasn't taking anything. I have Xanax for panic attacks which I use somewhat rarely, and the Seroquel for sleeping. Aside from the drowsiness, Seroquel is also one of the more sedating of all anti-psychotic drugs, which again helps with falling asleep. My issue with falling asleep has to do with the fact that my mind won't stop racing all of the damn time, so it helps sedate me some, along with making me a bit more susceptible to sleep. Plus, I only take about 6.25mg of it at a time (1/4 of a 25mg pill). Standard dosage for treating acute bi-polar disorder is 200-800mg a day.

I research any medication that I'm prescribed in depth before I start taking it. ;)

I saw it was for bi-polar

I take ambien for the same reason. My mind won't stop racing. I can be dead tired and the minute I hit the bed my mind starts spinning. Ambien has been a god send. Do you wake up tired or is this better than something like ambien for you

I wake up tired regardless of what I take. :24: But it isn't one of those where you need to allow yourself 8 hours to sleep if you're planning on taking it.

I'm like that...I can be falling asleep in the living room but as soon as I go to bed, I feel like sleeping but as soon as I doze, my eyes fly open and stuff hits my mind. Dunno what it is.
