Could you go 4 years without paying property taxes and get away without paying any penalties or have your house foreclosed on? Yeah, I didn't think so....

McCain, wife have over 225,000 dollars in tax arrears

Republican presidential nominee John McCain and his beer heiress wife Cindy have reportedly failed to pay house taxes and owe more than 225,000 dollars on credit cards.

According to The Telegraph and the Newsweek magazine, the McCains owed 6,744.42 dollars in delinquent property taxes on a California home.

After the magazine told the McCain campaign about the tax debt, most of it was paid off immediately. An aide later said that an elderly aunt of Mrs McCain, who lives at the San Diego property, appeared to have ignored the bills.

The McCains own at least seven properties and are fabulously wealthy. But in a recent Senate financial disclosure form, McCain reported that his wife owed between 200,000 and 500,000 dollars on two American Express cards while a joint card was in arrears by between 10,000 and 15,000 dollars.

In addition, one of their dependent children owed between 15,000 and 50,000 dollars to American Express. All the cards appeared to be charge cards, which means the balances have to be paid off each month.

Senator Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, reported no financial liabilities on his financial disclosure form and listed that he had invested between 100,000 and 250,000 dollars in university savings for each of his daughters, aged seven and nine.

And he wants to take care of our money? I guess John McCain is really telling the truth when he says he isn't good with economics OR money!

If that's true, that's disgusting.

No it isn't. It is a liberal rag trying to make a huge deal out of something that isn't a huge deal.

He owes 6,744.42 dollars which an elderly aunt who lives at the property and is more than likely responsible for the property forgot to pay it. When made aware it was paid off immediately.

I can't believe Tim even posted this.

lol i am confused, I know that happens often, but still :D

In one ear I have the left saying McCain is a tax-cheat, in the other I have the right saying it was some old aunt at the end of his road owing a fraction of that amount

This is coming out in Newsweek and numerous other publications...

The property has not had the taxes paid in 4 years and is owned by the McCains. I don't give a shit who lives in it, they are responsible for the taxes.

If this was Obama, it would be the lead story on Fox for the next 6 weeks... right?

ultimately, yes they are. And since they are and didn't pay on time because of a plausible explanation, but did as soon as they became "aware" of it, he's not fit to run the country. I like that

you bet your ass it would, and donnie would probably post it and you would spin it. Partisan bullshit flies in from left field AND right field. No secret in that.

How do you feel about Obama's guns and religion comment? I know EXACTLY where I stand on it, but I'd like to know what you think....

I didn't say he isn't suitable to run the country because of this... But it's important to know the character of the person who wants to run the country. I see this as another example of being out of touch with the average American. Paying your property taxes is a huge deal to the rest of us. If it was anyone of us who didn't pay for 4 years, we would be paying penalties out the ass. But not him, not a dollar over what was owed...
Property taxes are very important to the local government. Schools, police departments, fire, etc. all depend on this income. You don't just forget to pay them... Hell, if you feel the need to own 7 homes, then take the initiative to pay your freaking taxes. And you can't say you forgot for 4 years...

What quote... I'm actually not sure what you are referring to.

I'll try to find it. It was the one about embittered and disenfranchised Americans clinging to guns and religion during times of economic stress..

Here, I found it for you...

YouTube - Barack Obama's small town guns and religion comments

Now I didn't take offense to those statements at all after I heard his explanation to what he actually meant. And I can be sure that he didn't mean it like the media spun it since he said the same exact thing in 2004, only he layed it out a lot clearer.

YouTube - Obama (2004) connects guns, religion, economics, and bitter

So now that you heard it in his own words, like he intended it, do you still feel the same way?

If it had been you or me, the mortgage company would have been on us in 3 months or so... There are so many examples of the big wheels being given very special treatment.

I really like the attempt to label Obama pompous and arrogant by Karl Rove of all people! :p And the statement by General Clark that being a prisoner of war does not guarantee you'll be a good president. OMG the slander! But I've all ready said that in these forums.
