Tonight starts a remake of the old Cosmos show on TV and looks like it's worth watching.

A 13-part journey through the universe and beyond kicks off Sunday (9 p.m. ET/PT) on 10 networks, led by Fox and National Geographic Channel, with an introduction by President Obama.

The goal is to convey why science matters to the person, to our society, to us as shepherds of this planet. It involves presenting science in ways that connect to you, so Cosmos can influence you not only intellectually but emotionally, with a celebration of wonder and awe,

Certainly not a series for the fundamentally inclined.
Bound to be a backlash, but I hope there is no interference so great that it alters the content.

I liked it and hope to watch more and even found a 7 set DVD collection of Cosmos by Sagan at my local library that I'm going to start watching.

Episodes are being rerun a week later.
Check your local stations.

The original Cosmos has held up well over time and well worth watching in the same time frame as the reboot.
While some material content is the same in the reboot, Tyson does an excellent job of tying old and new concepts together in an interesting presentation suitable for children and adults alike, just as Sagan did.
The two shows compliment each other quite well.

My family is not big into this sort of show. They found it boring. I, on the other hand, really enjoy it and find it to be a welcome respite from some of the absolute crap on television.
