My 4 yr old has been having a tough time with being constipated lately. His dr had given us a some powder that you mix in his drink but thats a joke, it barely works. He drinks apple juice but that doesnt do much. I tried prune juice, he does not like it. I even quit giving him peanut butter because it has so much iron that Im afraid will stop him up even more.
Is there any certain kind of fruit or vegetable that you guys know about that could really get him moving? He is miserable:(

Well being 4 is a tough age, You can mix some Karo Syrup in his drinks, but honestly, give him a small dosage of a laxative, or you might have to resort to an enema, If something does not work soon? How long has he been like this?

Since last weekend. It hurts him so bad to go that he will try to hold it in and he is just making it worse doing it that way now his little bottom hurts. I feel so bad for him. I dont know what else to do except for pulling it out myself and I reeeeally dont want to do that.

I dont blame you there, I would try a laxative, A smaller dose would not hurt him, Or,, Just get some childrens enemas, It sucks to have to do that, but its better for him then hurting and having bigger problems.

i remember being little and my mom doing that to me. She used to tell me that I got that way b/c I didn't eat my veggies...whether it's true or not i dunno.

It sounds gross, but give them a little bit of mineral oil in some juice, soda, whatever makes it easiest to get down. Problem solved. Only need like a tablespoon or so. This was Dr. prescribed.

I found something that worked like a charm! Someone told me to give him some aloe vera juice. I had never heard of it before.
So I went to Walmart and found some. Its over by the pharmacy. It comes in different flavors. I gave him about 2-3 ozs to drink and within 3 hrs he went to the bathroom yesterday and he had been stopped up for almost 3 days, screaming and crying each time he tried to go.

Haleys MO was the only thing that worried for austin when he was little. My doc gave me the same powder stuff and it didnt work either. But haleys MO works very good. Its made by phillips. My son has an overactive bowel (meaning too much fluid is dried up in his bowel which makes stools harder)
