Do wireless internet routers use radio waves to connect between your computer and the router?

Everytime I turn my surround sound system on, it kicks my wireless internet off the connection. Almost like it weakens the signal.

simple dont use wireless! if unsafe slow and un-reliable!

and to be more helpful it is most likely that ur sound system is wireless too? if so then it is probably operating on the 2.4Ghz frequency which is the same as for 802.11

change it!

Yes.

Most surround systems are shielded however, is it an analogue system you have set up yourself for surround?

802.11a runs at 5ghz i believe, and all subsequent ones run higher - but I could be wrong about that

My wireless runs off a secured router with a wep key. Its secure. Yes its slower than having my laptop hardwired, but then I have wires running all over my room which is unsafe with my klutzy nature.

The sound system isn't wireless. It's a base unit with a wired antenna.

All I wanted to know was does a wireless router use radio waves, and I have my answer. Don't think you're better at networking shit than I am, because I do this for a living. :)

Millions of people use WEP. Are you going to drive by his house and sit outside with your laptop while you do this? And what are you going to get? Copies of his mp3s!!! LOL! :D Seriously, some of you people are anal retentive with the Internet Security stuff. I am more likely to have my house robbed than I am someone hacking my password and stealing something from my computer.

Is you want to be secure, stay the fuck off the Internet.
