CONFIRMED: 'Poltergeist' Remake at Mandate/MGM

Personal opinion: I'm not looking forward to this. Fucking with this movie. It was fine the first time around. Besides, didn't there used to be some "curse" where all the original actors died?

We've been reporting here for months that a remake to Tobe Hopper/Steven Spielberg's Poltergeist was in the works, we even went as far as to report that Mandate Pictures was attempting to acquire the remake rights to the franchise (read more here). We can now 100% CONFIRM - without a shadow of a doubt - that Mandate Pictures will be producing the remake for MGM. This is a fact, this is done, this is not speculation and it's time to quit denying it (yes you shitty fan site). The remake won't happen until post-strike, so watch for news in 2008.

I agree. Some other remakes that are coming include The Birds, Star Trek (The next movie is a remake of the original cast) and there might be a Tron remake too.
Also, I bet when 2015 comes around they will remake Back to the Future.

lol, there was never a curse in Poltergeist. Only like 3 of the cast members died, and 1 of them was of natural causes. The other two were just coincidences.

I kinda like remakes .. the one of the amityville horror was purty cool imo. I like what they are able to do with special effects these days. Plus I like the new uses of blood .. like the blood use in Mr. Brooks .. OMG fabulous!
