So, well... well okay I hope this conversation doesn't stir up a controversy or anything, but it's something I've sorta had on my mind. And frankly, I'd rather ask it here than at a Christian forum, because from my experience, Christian forums can be quite biased and don't allow you to talk in a way that disagrees with their strong opinions.
So anyway, here is my question: What is the true cause of conception, in your opinion? God allowing for a baby to be formed in a mother's womb, or just sex without precautions (such as birth control or condoms)? The reason I am asking is because I've heard some Christian pastors/speakers insist that God is the one who "opens up the womb" and allows a baby to form, and that babies are a precious gift from God.
However, I'm not sure what to think about this in some ways, because... well, what about rape victims who get pregnant? Am I supposed to think that, by this logic, rape victims first get victimized by having sex forced on them, then if they get pregnant it's a "gift"?
Therefore, I think I would have to conclude... sex just makes babies, period. And God probably didn't intend for some babies to come into existence at all in His original plan, but since all humans are His children, He makes a plan for them anyway. And as for the women in the Bible who had trouble conceiving children, such as Rachel (Jacob's wife) well, some women just aren't fertile, or they have trouble getting pregnant. I think it happens even to this day, but it still is possible for them to conceive after time perhaps, especially (in my opinion anyway) with God's help. After all, I believe Rachel *prayed* for a baby, then got one.
