Concealed Weapons Permit

Just curious what everyone here thought about them.

Not that hard at all to get here in florida you just have to be over 21 pay the 117 dollar fee and take a 2 hour class usually at a gun show for around 50 bucks. I really don't see a problem with them but I have a few friends who are shocked at the people I know that have a permit.
 
I think you should be able to get a carrying permit with a very thorough background check and a valid reason. BUT, if there is any violent behavior in your background, then NO. I just want to be sure there is good accountability for those with the permit and not handed out to every Tom, Dick and Harry.
 
I have a concealed weapons permit. They are not just handed out to anyone. At least not in the state of Arizona. My class was over 8 hours. I can't begin to tell you all it entailed. The class was given by a no nonsense, hard nose, ex cop and ex military man. Fingerprints were taken. If you even so much looked at him funny, you were pretty much out of the class. The background check is extensive. We had to qualify at the shooting range. If you didn't know how to handle your gun safely you were out of there. There was also a written test that had to be passed. In our class we started out with 40 people. Only a little over half were still there by the end of the class. I wish everyone would go through the education process and if they can pass all the requirements pack a pistol. In all states that have concealed weapons permits the crime rate has dropped.
 
I have a concealed weapon permit myself. You have to take a class and pay $75.00 then pass the background check. I can conceal any weapon I want. I mostly keep a 40 cal. in my truck.

Wow... that's insanely awesome. Indiana is background check, wait, background check, give them the money and you have your permit.
 
I agree James. A buddy of mine lives in Indiana and that is what he told me. You don't even have to prove that you can fire the thing. They just hand them out if you are clean.

Grace I have found there are very little of any of your post I ever have a disagreement with.
