Why do Democratic people hate Communism so much? I know it's a different value system, but I'm absolutely confused as to why we hate this idea.

Not all people who live in a Communist government hate it. Not all love it either. Isn't it the same here in the United States? Seems like there's probably more people in the free world that hate Barack Obama by ratio of population than North Koreans hate Kim Jong Il.

Don't Communists do good as well as bad, just like in America? The intersting thing is, though, we never see things they do good, only the bad, and vice versa in America.

Ya pretty much answered your question right there!

Edit: My comment is actually based more on the conditions and such in the US and North Korea rather than the Democratic and Communist systems. In fact, Communism and Democracy are like apples and oranges. Communism in theory can be democratic and is more centered on the relationship between the government and the economy.

The US feeling about Communism is easily summed up in this -

i'm so glad you mentioned north korea,a country where most of the population outside of the capital dont have basics that we take for granted, like electricity(find a picture of korea at night, the only lit place will be the capital),the majority are on a starvation diet, except in the capital where the leaders main support is,haven't you noticed how the ruling family are all grossly overweight?

north korea is communism in its extremes, everyone has the same...which is not much, unless you are a ruler and you have it all

I don't think communism has ever been implemented. What we have witnessed have been dictatorial socialist regimes.

I have to agree with you there. Lenin and Stalin and other Soviet leaders never implemented Communism, I think the reason why Trotsky was assassinated was because he found what Stalin real intention was.

I don't know much about why the West decided not to trade with the Communist Russia at the time of the Revolution, but it seems like that the likes of Stalin infiltrated the Communist Party for their own reasons other than Marxism

Ask yourself why no one ever tried to break into Eastern Germany when the Berlin wall was still around

nah Communism is objectively worse than anything we have in the West (and arguably worse than Nazism)

Communism in theory can be democratic and is more centered on the relationship between the government and the economy.

True communism can only be autocratic. Afterall, people don't need proportional representation if everyone is a manual labourer.

I've always maintained communism is dangerous. We want, we need, people working in lots of different areas contributing to different areas of society. We want even those at the very top to be held accountable by those at the very bottom. The idea that communism could exist in some democratic form is something that prompted communists to assasinate Aldo Moro.

Good point. I see what you're saying there.

My theory sort of went like this:

1) Start with capitalist government
2) Overthrow ruling class and establish dictatorship of the proletariat.
3) Everyone becomes workers. The government is structured like a pyramid. Small, local governments elect the officials above them. This continues all the way to the top.
4) After a while the capitalist class is eventually wiped out and all you're left with is workers. Since only the workers' interests are represented, and they're the only ones with interests, communism becomes democratic.

As I imagine them, I prefer Socialism to Communism. I'll reemphasize though that any system is crap including Capitalism if corruption is allowed. Historically Communistic governments have typically been corrupt.
