Cloverfield 2 photos not real, project dead?

If you recall, a while back I posted some photos that were being rumored to be from a possible sequel to Cloverfield. Well, as it turns out, these aren't actually from Cloverfield 2. They're merely photos from the viral campaign that was meant to be a prequel for Cloverfield. The photos(Shown below) are actually nothing more than the discovery of the monster and parasites that we see in Cloverfield. That being said, I think it's safe to say that for the time being, any hopes for a Cloverfield sequel are about as dead as the characters from the first Cloverfield. The most recent news was posted in May of this year, and the key people that are involved in the sequel(J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves) are not revealing any new information in any interviews, other than how they "want to try a new method of camera-work"(as opposed to the hand-held from the first Cloverfield), and that they're unsure of what to do at the moment, though they have some "awesome ideas".

If you head over to SlashFilm.com, the news isn't too amazing, and doesn't exactly get you hyped for a sequel. Here's what J.J. Abrams(Producer- Cloverfield, Director- Star Trek) had to say about a Cloverfield 2:

“There is a couple ideas that Drew Goddard , the writer, and Matt Reeves have that are pretty fantastic. So we’re playing around with some ideas and obviously if it isn’t something that really excited us and inspires us, we won’t do it. But there are some good ideas out there.”

But keep in mind, this quote was from April 26th of this year, so it's been a while. Another quote is fairly new, but still, it's only from July 26th of this year.

There’s something we’re playing with now that may or may not happen. There’s an idea we have that plays with… it’s not a literal sequel.

All we can do is hope that confirmation of a sequel(Of equal amazingness as the first Cloverfield) comes soon, but the way things are going these days, it doesn't seem likely.

Cloverfield wasn't all that special imo.

Just seemed like a cross between Blair Witch (handheld camera) and Godzilla (the big fucking monster).

I was so excited to see it, and I was extremely dissapointed.

Hopefully, if the sequel is made, they will use a different camera style, the hand held style was just kind of gimmicky imo.
