It depends on the type of platform you are using, it can be quite secure or extremely risky, although the risk will always exist. I have seen how huge companies are hacked, I don't see why they can't hack a simple computer in the cloud, but well, everyone will know which option to take or which one gives them the most security and above all the most confidence.
