Clash Over Mosque Near 9/11 Site

The debate here on video is much more lively than veil debate in the other thread. LMAO, one speaker said the mosque is a monument to terrorism. I guess most americans have negative views abt islam given the fact that they are fighting two wars in muslim countries.
New York (CNN) -- A leading opponent of a proposed mosque and community center near Ground Zero is asking a question that looms as large as the towers that stood nearby less than nine years ago: "Why there?"
Pamela Geller, a conservative blogger who leads a group called Stop the Islamicization of America, posed the question on CNN's "American Morning" Wednesday.
"We feel that it is a cemetery and sacred ground and the dead should be honored," Geller said. "To build a 13-story mega mosque on the cemetery, on the site of the largest attack in American history, I think, is incredibly insensitive."

I think that there's better things that they could put there. Right now it's just a hole fenced in...They can find anywhere else to put that Mosque. They seem to forget about all the Muslims dancing in the streets that day! It's totally disrespecting those who died and continue to die because of 911...I think that a monument for all of those who died, both civilians and heroes, should be put there. And I'm pretty sure that's what they are planning. Being there just miles away when 911 happened gives me a sort of opinion that's not all my own...

Those comprise a very small part of Islam... those that have been brainwashed into believing that America and the rest of the "west" are evil and bad. It's disrespectful to those who believe in freedom of religion to oppose a mosque going up because they hate Islam because of what a few extremists did.

Do you realize how many Muslims there are in NY? You know I just have to say that unless you saw first hand what happened there and the reaction from the Muslim community you might think differently. I have nothing against the Muslims besides their behavior when 911 happened. What does freedom of religion have to do with putting a Mosque at a site where such damage and loss of life occurred at the hands of Muslims? There are so many other places they can put Mosques in NY. Ground Zero should have something there that represents what happened there. Period...
