On top of the world in the late 90's and beginning of the 21th century. What has happened to her? She was the big deal, big live acts, huge voice, awesome albums... what do you guys think happened to her? Why did her career go down the drain all of a sudden?

She has a really powerful voice, but no identity. Compare here albums to each other, and they have nothing in common. It's because she uses her powerful voice to chase trends instead of trying to define them. She's talented, but won't be remembered like the singers she imitates.

Well she has been pretty successful as a judge on The Voice... I actually really like that show and she is great. But I agree with klorjne, her albums are all pretty different and I feel she still didn't find her true identity as a singer. I liked her album Stripped way back, but her latest albums have been very weak.

I remember her as the chick who wore less and less clothes in her videos as she got older. Don't think there ever was any musical aptitude there.
