I don't really see any problem with people playing games that are violent or having bad language...
Plus, I don't know how a kid would get ahold of one of those games unless their friends have a game like that, the parents buy it for them, or they steal it.

It's very easy to stop, but many people just don't really care anymore... you can't blame games for the way people are...

I am so sick of people blaming a child's behavior on violent video games. Heaven forbid we look at the parents and how they raise the child, but then again that would require them to take responsibility.

I think the easiest excuse has always been to blame the games, and yes in a small way they should be held accountable. But there are two bigger problems.

1. The lazy parents who either buy the game for their kid or let them play it after the kid has bought it.

2. The Shops who sell the games to them. Not saying they are all like that, in fact some do have good stringent methods of not selling to minors, but some don't.

It's wrong to suggest these games should be banned because the majority of people who play them play them because they enjoy video games and are mature enough to understand that it's just a video game.

Makes sense to me...

It's like, you can't entirely blame games, but you can only blame the parents or the people who allow the child to play it...
If the parent of the child who owns one of those games lets another child play it when they aren't supposed to, I guess you can hold them accountable.

When my son was growing up, we played shooters. No bad language, no graphic violence, but you were shooting people with guns and such. It's like playing tag although a tag with violent imagery and he did not turn into an axe murderer. :) The most important thing is if the kid can distinguish between a game and real life. People who are really killed don't rez for more fun and games. But I understand if some parents don't want their kids exposed to this.

The funniest story I heard was about this Grandmother who bought her Granddaughter GTA San Andreas. Never mind it's full of gunning down innocent people or people who get in your way, when she heard that it included a secret game called Hot Coffee, for which you had to install a mod and showed simulated sex, no sexual organs displayed, she had a fit and sought a lawsuit against the company! I've always thought the idea of violence= ok, but sex= big NO, was kind of funny. :D

Time changes, people always stay the same :( 50 years ago the comic book industry was facing the exact same problems. Before that, it was the movie industry. Before that...whos to say. Even if video games are violent and inspire children to do violent things, the reality of the situation will barely change course anyways. God bless capitalism.

I know this. I had a friend who used to put her 3yr old in front of GTA for hours (it's improving his eye-hand coordination!) as a babysitter.

It didn't take long for him to start pushing & bullying other little kids.

PS & PBBB used to play some shoot-em-up game when she was 3 also. But it had settings to where when she shot something flowers streamed out.... She didn't end up w/aggressive behaviour.

When she wasn't playing w/daddy, all her 'games' were of an education nature. Perhaps its one of the reasons she was reading & doing simple math by the time she was 4?

Now? She's a MapleStory junkie:24: Which has inspired her to make MapleStory videos...

p.s. We, as parents, have made an executive decision that PBBB will not be allowed to WoW....:24: As beautiful a world as it is, not happening!!!!!
