Police say two young children on a Christmas visit from Oklahoma and their mother were killed in Fort Smith as long as a week ago and their bodies left inside of an apartment complex.
Police have arrested 30-year-old James Aaron Miller, the mother's boyfriend, on suspicion of committing the killings. Police identified the dead as 28-year-old Bridgette Barr, 5-year-old daughter Sydney and 2-year-old son Garrett.
Miller's father in Colorado had called Fort Smith police early Monday morning, saying he received a text message from his son that sounded suicidal.
Police arrived at the apartment, where Miller told an officer he was, "ready to go." The officer later discovered the bodies.
Miller is being held without bail at the Sebastian County Jail. He has yet to be charged.
