Chatrooms... WTF?!?!

Hey, yeah I'm sure someone has already made a topic like this, but hey, might as well give my own personal opinion...

But like, anyways, first off....
Ever notice how that in a chat room, millions of people are immature or desperate for adult activity... it's like, 90% of all people who go into chat rooms are looking for sexual activity....
Like seriously, there needs to be like twice as many moderators for these chat rooms and chat sites...

Like today, in a myspace chat room app, I came across this BS:

It's like, you get all this retarded flirting and crap.... and some people who go there are just looking to make some friends or find people they can relate to...

Do any of you go to or moderate, or have any comments/opinions about Chat Rooms/Chat Sites?

Yeah, very hard to tell who you are talking to, generally, the only way to find out is to see how they talk and respond to things...

I used to go into chat rooms AGES ago. It was entertaining back then. I remember in some rooms there would be a lot of sexual stuff, but if you get into the right catagory of room it didn't have that crap.

It depends which one you go in, if it's just a general one then the likelihood is that kind of chat will become apparent.

However if it's one with a subject (say football or MMA) then the likelihood is then it will be more sensible chat to do with that subject.

On the contrary (I don't even know what I just said... but anyways)... Ummm... from my experiences only... most chat rooms/chat sites these days don't have really any restrictions on the events in the room unless a moderator is there...
So rooms like 321teenchat, and all that, just don't really cut it for everyone...
There needs to be more moderators online... but yeah... I just think, most chat rooms, and chat sites should be removed.

funny is i used to go to one chat it was bad if you were not answering what they ask then were telling you so many names lol but i kept going because i was bad to this people too and there were no mods in there but there is some nice people too i meet few and after 5 years still we talk on msn not very often but we do ..

at the end used to go when i was bored and angry lol ...and the lucky person who ask me first something was bad for him lol

When I first got the internet (circa 2001, haha), I used to frequent a chat room in Talk City & it was where I met some of the greatest people whom I still keep in contact with now. I've been friends with one girl since she was 13-14 years old who is now 22. I've been friends with another guy since 2002 who I met on there & another girl who I've been friends with since 2002 as well. Talk City got shut down a while ago so we were all able to keep in contact thanks to AIM, Myspace & now Facebook.

Since Talk City, I've frequented other chat rooms too & I've had my own experiences from that as well. I can tell you, that I mostly go to chat rooms just to have someone to talk to & connect with. Most often the conversation will start off just getting to know each other & then it will get sexual. Which has turned me off from wanting to go back to a chat room since. The last time I was in a chat room was probably a month & a half ago & I don't have any intention of returning. I've talked to crazies, horn dogs, & people claiming to be married & wanting to cyber. It definitely provides some entertainment but from my experiences alone, you're right, 90% of those people are just looking for a good time .

But yeah I've been on normal chatrooms as well and there is a lot of sexual stuff (some of it made me want to claw my eyes out; it was the disgusting) but I'd just leave or start typing stupid stuff like what Dexx posted. My favourite thing to do on chatroulette when a man doing naughty things appeared, was to laugh at him and then post a comment slating him and a lot of the men would get very upset by it. But hey, if they can't take the criticism, they shouldn't do it on the internet.

I do not use chatrooms. I pass lot of things because I do not know what they means. My dictionary is regular and not sexual or urban and I have wroted what oddest things for answers when some people have tried to flirting or cyber sex with me. :rofl2:
