It's so funny, having lost weight, to see how hard it is to change your own perceptions about your body. They gave us sample polo shirts today so we could try them on and see what size we need. This time they're actually giving us the option of men and women's shirts and the cuts are way smaller on the women's shirts. I picked up the XL and knew there was no way it was going to fit b/c it was cut so small. I picked up the XXL and I said "this is still way too small...let me get the men's 2X and try it as well."

Long story short, the XXL fits perfectly. But it was just funny to me b/c I'm still stuck in that mindset where I think I need a 3X or 4X shirt. So for those of you who have lost a large amount of weight...how long did it take you to get used to being your new size??? LOL

I have gone through 3 times where I was at about 185 lbs and dropped to 125 lbs in about 3 months due to medical conditions that usually last me 2 years to go back up and when i do the gains are almost as bad to get back up to my normal weight.. Now for a guy 5'10" that is totally unhealthy and not good for my heart so when i am that low my doctors usually put me on steroids. Yah they purposely make me gain weight so I am not to far below..

I would drop and then regain 3 full waist sizes in that period ( 2 years ) and it would make not only a mess of me but of my closet.. Going downwards you can handle because the clothes will always keep fitting so the 3 months loss is never a problem in a way and you can clothes adjusted but going back up and you start to do it quickly, the clothes just makes you feel like crap from being tight.. I am going through it now from the last car accident and surgery I had and I have gone up from 128 lbs to 175 lbs and still rising and will need to get a whole new bunch of clothes again.. Hey pants and shirts are cheap but suits are not..

I know it's probably totally different than what you are going through but I do understand some of it.. I remember going in and picking out a nice pair of pants 3 times my size.. Now I only wish i had bought them..

It's different, but also the same...if that makes sense, LOL Like it sucks that I had all these super nice dress clothes in my closet and I finally just gave them to Veronica's sister so I knew they would go to good use. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade ANYTHING for having lost the weight I've lost so far (still got a long ways to go)...but clothes ain't cheap and replacing an entire wardrobe when your size will continue to change just isn't reasonable. I've been dealing w/ my uniform pants by just gathering the loose fabric in the waistband (like you said, you can adjust for being smaller than your clothes...not so much the other way). As frustrating as it can be and as tired as I get of hearing "looks like you need some new pants" I'm just grateful my uniform is no longer so tight that I feel like a stuffed sausage, LOL

That's ok.. When they say, You Need New Pants, just answer Yah Your right and new Dress and so on and so on. Sounds like you are really happy with your own progress and that's something to be damn proud of. So take those little comments and turn them into compliments..

Fantastic to hear you so positive about this.. :thumbup

It can take a lifetime ;)

It goes deeper than clothes too. It's about changing the 'tape' that runs in ones head. Not always easy to do.
