Obama transition began before Election Day - CNN.com

CNN said:
He (Obama) is expected to name his White House chief of staff as early as Wednesday. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, a Chicago colleague, is the clear front-runner for the job.

Now, I decided to do a little checking on Congressman Emanuel. Guess what?

Rahm Emanuel has voted with a majority of his Democratic colleagues 98.5% of the time during the current Congress. This percentage does not include votes in which Emanuel did not vote.
Rahm Emanuel | Congress votes database | washingtonpost.com

The same site says Obama and Biden voted along party lines 96% of the time in the current Congress.

My question is this: With records like these, how are they supposed to unite our government and our country?

Stop being a racist. I mean clearly if you are taking issue with anything regarding the work of our new Prez-elect you must be racist.

I don't know why Emanuel would take this position. He used a similar position with Clinton to springboard into congress?

are you saying that we have been duped?? :eek

You mean the uniter is really a partisan??

Now if that is true I am truly shocked.

Somebody needs to get out Reds handy dandy book and make note of this for future reference.

What I read about the corruption in Chicago, specifically sickens me. I cannot believe that the American people voted this man into office. And now we will have another Chicago politician as Chief of State.

I cried last night for the McCain's and what I see as a loss of our country's values and ethics.

the republicans did it to themselves. got greedy with power after all the years of not having control of congress. then they bought into the Bush bull shit. the kindler gentler conservative. that fucker spent money worse than anybody in history and had no clue.

don't cry. this is a wake up call for the party. they can pander to the middle or return to their roots.

they lost me years ago. viva la Libertarian Party. the true conservatives

Amen to that. I voted Libertarian in 1996.
we are not there yet

but after the reps and dems rape and pillage this country we might be.

or if the reps ever return to being conservative.

I really liked Reagan but he is IMO the one that got the reps started down the path of the religious right controlling the party. if they did before I never noticed it. Plus the SOB did ZERO to control spending.

The religious right justify everything the same as the clowns that commit sins and then go repent every sunday. sickening hypocrites. Why don't they start their own damn party and see how far it gets them

end of mini rant :D

Well Congress passes the budget--while he could of vetoed it, you forget that the Democrats had control of Congress, so if he wanted to accomplish anything, he had to compromise. And he was forced to sign on to quite a bit of spending if he wanted military spending increased.

I could buy into much of that.

But as I recall he submitted budgets which were higher than what congress approved.

I know he had to deal with a democrat congress.

me thinks he gave up a bit more than was necessary. ;)

whoa
let's take about 1,000 steps back
kthanx
First, Chicago politics are notoriously corrupt - true.
HOWEVER, Mr. Obama is not a Chicago politician friends. He may live there but that's where his CHICAGO politics start and stop. He is the junior senator from Illinois - he's a Springfield politician. :D
Second, I wouldn't weep too hard for the McCain's. I'm sure he'll be fine and probably have a home next to Cheney and Bush, in Dubai.
So let's not bash on Chicago too much. We still got pizza and Da Bears and me :D

Did I not say the same thing?
The old Daley machine is dead and gone.
The new Daley machine can be bought and sold.
But Mr. Obama is about as much of a Chicagoan as well, you.

Not domestic spending--yes he did spend big on the military, but it needed it.

Everyone talks about the Reagan tax cuts, yet there is more to President Reagan’s legacy than tax cuts. There is also his courageous and largely unappreciated willingness to fight for reductions in domestic spending.

Ronald Reagan sought--and won--more spending cuts than any other modern president. He is the only president in the last forty years to cut inflation-adjusted nondefense outlays, which fell by 9.7 percent during his first term (see table 1). Sadly, during his second term, President Reagan did not manage to cut nondefense discretionary spending, and it grew by 0.2 percent. But his record is still quite remarkable if compared to other administrations. Every other president since Lyndon Johnson serving a full four-year term did not even do as well as Reagan in his less-impressive second term.

Don't confuse yourself with the actions of your own party and attempt to assign those actions to others. Lots of teeth gnashing going on here... I'll let you guys rave here in peace.

LOL! :D You may believe Republicans stole the election, but its been disproven over and over and over again. However, there is hard evidence regarding elections stolen by Democrats in Chicago and other areas--Democratic ties to the mob through the unions, strong arm tactics--its a cesspool of corruption.
