CD speed limit

Alright, so I'm trying to rip a few movies from a friend and I got one fine and dandy using DVD Shrink. I popped in the second one and when I went to open the disk it kicked up to what I'm sure is more than my max read/write speed. It does this every time. I know there is software to limit the speed. I tried Nero but it didn't work and I was trying to remember a trial one I used a while ago, I only need it for tonight. Anyone know what that might be or even a good free one?
