Catholic Church selling indulgences. Price. Silence & Kowtow.

Martin Luther, the founder of the protestant movement, must be spinning in his grave. He was named a heretic for sounding out the Catholic Church in the 1500s because the Vatican was selling salvation through selling indulgences. For those who do not know what that is, it is basically a get out of hell free card that tells God how long to punish the wicked.
At that time, the people recognized that the Catholic Church had over stepped their authority and were forcing God to punish to the will, and under the conditions set by the Church hierarchy. God became a church laky instead of it’s head. Slave instead of master.
Let us pray that people are as bright today.
First Jesus had said, only through me and now the Church was saying only through them can you enter the gates of heaven; usurping God’s power.
The Church is doing the same thing again today, the selling of salvation , as this link will show.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/11/08/minnesota.catholic.gay.marriage/index.html?eref=rss_latest&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rss%2Fcnn_latest+%28RSS%3A+Most+Recent%29

The new price is not just a few dollars as it was in the past. It is now the very soul and humanity of Catholics as they are told once more to, sit down, shut up, and do what they are told, by the Church hierarchy.
I as still a Catholic but I here and now renounce my faith and only have two things to say to the Vatican.
The first thing that I would tell the pope is, he is as described at the end of this following link.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjxZ6MrBl9E&feature=related

The second link tells him what I would do to the Church for reducing human life and the salvation of souls to the price of selling ones humanity to his coffers. The Church is completely wrong and doing the immoral thing in it’s anti-gay policies and judgments.
To coerce parishioners to do what would likely send them to hell if done on their own, is immoral and wrong. Such Church sanctioned actions guarantees that it is the Church hierarchy that will be greeted by Satan. Martin Luther may just have been right in calling the pope of his day the anti-Christ. That name certainly and without a doubt applies to today’s Church leader.

I'm appalled that some religious parents disown and kick their boys out of the house because they are gay. Churches full of those kind of people will not and should not survive in the religion of tomorrow. The churches that are accepting the gay community will be the churches of tomorrow. Homophobic attitudes will become an embarrassment to religion just as oppression of women and slavery already have.

Actually the church has a long history of telling people what God wants and expecting them to believe it. It's anything but funny if people listen. Indulgences are a good example. Homophobia is another.

haha Speaking of Mass... I heard the Catholic church is offering a low-calorie communion wafer now called "I can't believe it's not Jesus".

I don't imagine the church actually tells parents to disown and kick their boys out of the house because they are gay. At least I hope not. However, I've never heard of a nonreligious parent doing so.

Homophobia existed long time before Christianity ever was on the block, something that some atheist refuse to admit :thumbup

I am against homophobia where ever I find it. In this country, where I find it is in Christianity. To be fair, many of the Christians I know are not. But the homophobes I know are Christians.

The gay community is winning this battle. The churches that accept gays will be the churches of tomorrow.

What do you mean by them accepting gays? Do you mean that they have to rip up the Bible and lean towards homosexuality?

This is just my prediction. I could be wrong. Eventually society will accept gay marriage as a respectable life style. The churches that welcome homosexuals as members will survive. The ones that don't will be seen as having bigots for members and people will go else where. Those churches will decrease in membership as other churches grow.

Religious views change. It's happened before. I think it will happen with homosexuality. At the rate things are going, in another fifty years church opposition to homosexuality will be an embarrassment. The sects that fought the hardest will be the most embarrassed.

Of course, heterosexual marriage will still be respectable. So people will have their choice.

It has begun.

My impression is that a lot of churches tell their parishioners who or how to vote. They should lose their "church" exempt status because of it.

What a weird impression, never have I once been told how and who to vote. Perhaps you should go to church just before any election occurs and seek the truth. Impressions like that are so wrong
