I do one with my son every year..

My son however refuses to stick his hand in the pumpkin to take the guts out so that seems to be my job.. Last year I made the little rat take a good part of it out :tooth This year I am working towards him doing it all.

That said he does a great job, and has for a long time, at carving the pumpking and has done a better job than me some years..

Here are two of our past pumpkins..

Mine..

I've only ever carved a pumpkin once in my life. I was 14. It got smashed when we were drunk after an argument about whether pumpkin is poisonous uncooked.

I do too I love it
any good tips
Ive got one
after you finish carving it cover it with vasiline petroleum jelly
it will keep it from getting old to quick and protect it from the heat of a candle
I use a fake flickering candle that uses led
less energy and no heat and nice and bright
but still has the creepy shawdows with random flickering
if you accidentally cut a part out that you didnt want to cut out
use a toothpic to stick it back in with
girls use the pumkin guts as a foot mask
when cutting the top hole cut it at a diagonal angle inward toward the cent to help hold the top from falling in
and cut pencil sized holes int the top if you use a real flame to let the heat escape
and unless youve already accomplished it before dont by one of those elaborite kits thinking your gonna make all those small cuts in the pumkin
youll wear yourself slap out and it will probably not come out as well as your typical do it your self large classic eyes nose and mouth cuts
the classic is creepier
also thin out the complete wall on the side of the that you plan on putting the face by
scrapping the inner wall with a large spoon
it will make it easier to cut through the wall if you are going to try and do an elaborate design
but dont make it too thin or your pumpkin will sag within a days time
