Here's a bit:

"The Catholic primate of all-Ireland has said that he will not resign as Church leader despite revelations in the BBC's This World programme.

It found Cardinal Sean Brady had names and addresses of those being abused by paedophile priest Brendan Smyth.

However, he did not pass on those details to police or parents.

Cardinal Brady said he accepted he was part of "an unhelpful culture of deference and silence in society, and the Church"."

In my undereducated opinion, the only way to bring accountability is for every single Catholic to withhold their money until said accountability happens. Period.
That it hasn't happened yet surprises me. :wtf: If I were to follow the Catholic religion, the Church wouldn't be getting one cent from me until the bright light of truth had permeated every last dark corner and the filth dealt with in a timely and thorough manner.

But I'm a PeaBrain ;)

Thoughts?

Generally, when you have a job that can only employ sexless freaks; you tend to attract sexless freaks.
The catholic church doesn't believe in hiring anybody but sexless freaks to be priests, despite crippling shortages, so these incidents are numerous and always covered up.

I get the sense the Catholic church as a whole feels more assaulted by secularism than by the child abuse going on in their midst...stick together!

It's not unusual for large power bureaucracies to become more worried about the organization and protecting itself, then doing the right/moral thing. When it comes to a church praying upon innocent children, it's especially heinous, something that God would send you to hell for. I wonder how many priests loose sleep over this prospect?
