Like the other Candidate calculator posted here by GP, I found this one very interesting. Find Your Candidate for the 2008 Election – VAJoe.com – Where the Military Matters Most

The only serious flaw in this calculator is that the ~21% of disagreement to my top match is over a deal-breaker issue. In my case, it would be my overwhelming disagreement with Ron Paul over the issue of abortion, and even that 21% would likely prevent me from casting a vote for him.

I have always considered myself a moderate, typically because each I dance on both sides of the political spectrum, depending on the issue. I say it's because I'm critical in my personal beliefs, while my father insists I'm just "wishy washy" :). I've never fit well into any political mold, even though this calculator indicates that I should. It at least gives me something to consider this time around, seeing how I'm perpetually undecided.

This was mine:

Your Top Match Texas Representative Ron Paul (R)

79.31% match

You are number 1,363,970 to use the Candidate Calculator.

Holy smokes Grace... your top candidate was Hilary Clinton???

I can't believe you left that out of your post. Did you throw-up a little in your mouth when you saw that?
John McCain and Her were a dead match (exact percentage). It didn't make any sense as they are not alike. I figured it was a mistake in the matching. And yes, I did puke a little. LOL!

I'm a centrist as can be seen by my matches. It pretty much alternates between dems and rep all the way down.

I find that anyone that has all dems and then all rep or all rep then all dems to not be very balanced in their thinking. (just my opinion)

I think both parties have really good points on things and I find that what mostly does not work in this country is that fact that each party does not acknowledge the great points made by the other party. Neither side wants to compromise.

Most of my views lie in the middle. I don't see how folks that have all dems listed first and then rep or the other way around can call themselves independents.

Most voting Independents have more balanced views and take the best from each party imo.

Not balanced in our thinking???

How can you possibly come to that conclusion from this extremely limited "test"?

I know I'm independent for the simple reason that I am never able to align myself with any 1 party.

The questions were few and without enough detail to be considered accurate.

A good example is guns. I've owned guns, I love shooting and I'm a damned good shot (I belonged to my local gun club for years) I am not for banning them, but I believe in tight controls and thorough background checks. So is that Lib or Con?

Not just this test. Any tests like this (there are many on the net) that have been posted on forums. No one wants to say they are a rep or dem on the Internet. I could care less. Most of the time I end up voting rep instead of dem because I am more con than lib. But as you can see with my choice of McCain, he is a more middle of the line (liberal conservative) than the other candidates. He has been labeled a centrist and will not be elected under the 'rep' label. Kucinich is as far left as you can get. Unless people are closer to 50/50 in their views and/or are wanting to compromise I just personally don't see them as independents.

I didn't mean any offense.

It's because you're a woman, and it's a well-known fact that every woman is going to vote for Hillary.

And this is the very reason women shouldn't be allowed to vote... Damn you Suffragists.... :hey
