Can you use a smartphone of less than 8GB RAM?

I followed a friend of mine to a phone store where he's planning to get a new phone. I suggested he shouldn't go for any phone that is less than 8GB RAM so he'll enjoy it without hanging. But because if his budget, they recommended a phone of 6GB RAM to him, claiming that it is also fast and doesn't lag.
I'm skeptical about it though, because I believe it won't function as well as desired.

What do you think? Can you use a phone of less than 8GB of RAM?

I have a PC which I use for a lot of things, so I don't need a mobile phone with higher specs. My current phone has 6 GB RAM.

My current phone is 8 GB RAM but I have sued 6 GB and even 4 GB RAM. Since I don't do gaming or video editing through phone, I don't need a phone with a lot of RAM.

Really? What is the experience while using it? I guess you are still enjoying it because you do not use it to perform heavy tasks.

If you don’t use your phone too much or if you don't use a lot of apps or heavy tasks, you don't really need 8 GB RAM.

That's very true. RAM is one of the determining factors for prices and if you don't do heavy task there is no point in buying phone with a lot of RAM.
