Many spiritual traditions say pain is a teacher. Do you believe growth always requires hardship, or can someone reach deeper awareness through joy and contentment alone?

Spiritual growth can happen without extreme suffering, but challenges often act as catalysts for deeper understanding. Learning, reflection, and mindful practice can also foster growth. Struggles may accelerate awareness, but consistent self-exploration and compassion can nurture spiritual development even in relatively comfortable circumstances.

I was brought up in a culture that believes there is suffering in the world and you can get away from that suffering by walking the righteous path. This Buddhist philosophy basically tells that when you walk the path of spirituality, there will be no more suffering.

In my religion, sacrifice is always a price that one has to pay to grow. You might call it suffering but every growth must pass through a process of refining, learning, beaten to form to as to prepare you for that level of growth. Suffering is a prerequisite for growth.
