Can and does God change?

Can and does God change?

Many seem to think that when scripture says that God is immortal and perfect, it means that God never changes his mind on anything and that his perfection is complete.
They use the following basic definition.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/perfect

Scripture seems to contradict this definition. It shows a N T Jesus that must learn and an O T God who changes thanks to repenting.

In the real world, all things seem to evolve.

Is God a never changing stagnant pool of information or does he evolve the same as all other life?

If he was perfect and complete for millennia in the beginning, why would he suddenly feel a new urge to create and self glorify himself with the love of insignificant creations?
Where did his needs for adoration, belief, and obedience from, what to him, would be less than what an amoeba is to us?

Further, if his intent was to create many followers, why does scripture show more failed creations than successful ones?

Jesus and God are two different things. Jesus was sent to us by God to show us the way God wants us to live. God also gave us the power of free will, hence the failures by man and the reason people make mistakes and must ask for forgivness from him. Also the devil and his negative influence that can surround us. I am by no means a bible thumper or claim to know alot on the subject but I do believe in God and the whole Adam and Eve thing. What Panacea said I think stands true also alot is based on individual interpretation of the scripture and that makes things confusing. Hopefully one day I will know but until then I just have to go on faith that there is an afterlife and things will make sense to me at that time.

A reasonable view but you are aware that those who wrote the Bible and the story of Eden do not read it literally. Right?

Further, depending on how you practice your faith, you may be contributing to child abuse.

You claim to be a literalist.
It is my view that all literalists and fundamentals hurt all of us who are Religionists.
They all hurt their parent religions and everyone else who has a belief. They make us all into laughing stocks and should rethink their position. There is a Godhead but not the God of talking animals, genocidal floods and retribution. Belief in fantasy is evil.

They also do much harm to their own.

For evil to grow my friends, all good people need do is nothing.
Fight them when you can.

Are you ready to fight your own ilk?

True. Women sleep around too which is great in my book as long as they're safe and aren't cheating on anyone. Unfortunately many people have a double standard. Sleeping around makes him a stud but her a slut.

Yes. Historically, this is true and I have never fathomed why.

Perhaps it has to do with society knowing that men are the sluts and woman takes our blame because men will not step up. Even as they are likely the initiators of the situation. I guess that Christian men are so used to thinking of Jesus as a scapegoat that it comes easy to use women the same way. Pathetic.

That or we are just more offended because of some notion that women are supposed to somehow be more chaste than men.

I don't know.

Perhaps a female here will enlighten us.
