Senior American intelligence and defence officials believe that President George W Bush and his inner circle are taking steps to place America on the path to war with Iran, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt.
Pentagon planners have developed a list of up to 2,000 bombing targets in Iran, amid growing fears among serving officers that diplomatic efforts to slow Iran's nuclear weapons programme are doomed to fail.
Pentagon and CIA officers say they believe that the White House has begun a carefully calibrated programme of escalation that could lead to a military showdown with Iran.
Now it has emerged that Condoleezza Rice, the secretary of state, who has been pushing for a diplomatic solution, is prepared to settle her differences with Vice-President Dick Cheney and sanction military action.
In a chilling scenario of how war might come, a senior intelligence officer warned that public denunciation of Iranian meddling in Iraq - arming and training militants - would lead to cross border raids on Iranian training camps and bomb factories.

Sounds like we want to be ready to take out their nuke facilities if they get close to their goal.

I'm alright with that.

Well, the US needs to start massing alliances than abusing their military. The military really is only an absolute last resort. We really should try speaking with the Iranian Dicktator and try to settle our qualms through word, not with thousands of Americans and Iranians dead.

But thats the obvious. What we really need is a Congress thats going to grow some God damned balls and start restricting presidential powers and and start enforcing the Constitution. If our Congress had half a brain, they would've kicked High Warlord Cheney and Comrade Bush out years ago. Not only that, but get the troops back home and start rebuilding international relationships. The Congress is the most essential piece of our government, and right now, its failing to fulfill the basic ideals that were shared by all Americans during the founding. So as a result, we get King George IV.

You try solving conflicts with someone that doesn't live in reality Kupcake. I am all for communication, all for it. But seriously how much progress are you going to make with someone that thinks the holocaust is 'a myth'. The dude is definitely out to lunch.

Agreed. You should post more.

Well, even if his views are distorted, thats not an excuse to break our own laws and threaten the system of government that stands for so much.

This government is based on the people's thoughts, as per their representatives. So, if the people think we should invade Iran, well by all mean, lets blow their asses to hell. But thats not the case. A few elite members of Government believe that we need to invade Iran, while the Congress and the people disagree. That, my friends, is what you call an aristocracy. The aristocratic system, the very thing we were fighting against during the Revolution has come back to haunt us, and is starting to ruin the government that it was designed against.

This invasion of Iran is more than just about the US International Policies or protecting our citizens, its about protecting the ideals of the Revolution and the law of the land. The Bush Administration is starting to ruin everything that America once stood for.

This is what you stated.
You can't reason with people that don't even think on a realistic level.

But thats the obvious. What we really need is a Congress thats going to grow some God damned balls and start restricting presidential powers and and start enforcing the Constitution.
Yes that would be nice, but they (Congress) has even less of an approval rating than that of the President, so I doubt that will be happening any time soon.

Our government spends their time making up news laws instead of enforcing the ones we already have.

Well, even if his views are distorted, thats not an excuse to break our own laws and threaten the system of government that stands for so much.
:confused

No one is invading Iran. Calm down. If we were going to invade Iran, it would be plastered on the news everywhere.

The Bush Administration is starting to ruin everything that America once stood for.
No more than the Clinton Administration did.

Oil.

It may sound cliche, but its all about America securing natiral resources to prop itself up economically. If iraq did not have valuable natural resources, I can promise you that we would not be there .

Well, N Korea also has a military thats beyond psychotic. They live to kill Americans. They're willing to die, as long as a few Americans die with them. War with North Korea would be a hell of a lot scarier than the Iraq War has been.

Anyway, invading any country that has nukes is a horrible, horrible idea. Thats only going to lead to Nuclear War. If we do anything, we should either follow through with diplomacy or pull off some assassinations. But the assassination idea would be a lot more risky, of course.

It might not be scary for you, but it was for us when we heard about the Iraq invasion when apparently they could nuke us in 20 minutes. Seriously, fuck the war and I mean it sincerely, more worried about my family than Bush's ego thank you very much!!!:mad
