News is not old, that recently during a press conference a reporter swung his Boots in direction of Bush....

A day back, a minister from Malaysia made a statement that Bush deserves it as he has trespassed several countries.

The man who tried to attack Bush with his boots, is now becoming a Hero....

After the incident Bush tried to give this attack low importance, but surely he must have been offended .....

What do you think, was this really required, its not about a particular person !!!!

The killing of thousands wasn't neccessary, good on the guy for making his and others voice heard. It was only a couple of shoes, more symbolic than actual harm intended. You cant have it both ways, you want to give a country free speech, dont bitch if they use it against you.

Bush probably did not at the time even know the significance of the gesture

I think it probably was more of a stunning WTF moment

One thing it proves is it is not all that easy to attack a person of prominence

That could have been kinves made out of plastic or whatever that metal locators would miss

As far as punishment it is a no win situation. It was an assault and if it is dismissed as insignificant that sends a bad signal. on the other hand putting the asshat in jail will stir up the idiots over there

The shoe-cide bomber can be a hero to the arab world. Bush can be called a war crimnal - so what. Iraq is history now. Bush will wash his hands soon and enjoy his retirement. Whatever people say is no big deal to him

Would like to add something in defense of the security. It reminds me years ago when I was on a sound system team for a big venue. The first thing my boss told me which stuck with me was that its a thankless task. No one will thank you when you did a good job but the'll be all over you if you fuck up. Although more is at stake here, the same principle applies. The security could never foresee someone throwing their shoes at Bush and to be fair it wasn't very likely to cause serious harm. Probably thanks to them though, no one did him serious damage, still a job well done by them I think.

True but guess it was more important to him than his career, respect him for that at least.

I agree Peter.

I should have probably qualified my comment with western journalist.

No western journalist would likely get a job after doing that

In the mideast the peanut gallery loves this kind of crap

Excuse me if I'm wrong, thought Saddam had a hell of a lot to do with the war this shoe thrower was protesting?
We look forward now. Shoe throwing by a well read journalist indicates terrorists are all out now to strike at the earliest opportunity. Maybe next is some journalist will throw some drenched underwear at bush

:24: I would hardly call a protester throwing a showe an act of terrorism! You really cant start dimissing Saddam yet, doing so just shows embarresment about how this was handled.

As I'm sure most people will agree with me, I find you saying that lobbing a shoe at someone is worse than crashing planes into innocent citizens killing thousands, very disrespectful!
You can't compare the two acts - they are totally different. One involves the President
