you stated earlier that it was a world game......the world plays the game.....no one nation should have a monopoly on hosting the world cup

I didn't say anything about monopolizing it, I'm saying sign a petition to have a major US city host it.

The way the US national team played this past World Cup is the reason there's so much hype in America about soccer. We want to be the best at everything

Well, there are actually a number of cities in the states that could pull that off ;) The greater Los Angeles area being the first one that comes to mind. :p

I guess thats true, I didnt think of that :thumbup

I think they were just poking fun at me because they think I assumed that all the matches are held in one stadium

LA has at least half a dozen stadiums big enough for a football pitch and about 50,000 spectators?

with a population of 9 million, it wouldnt affect it much

approximately.....if the countries qualified.....england 30'000...scotland 20'000...germany 25'000....because of the locality. mexico 40'000.....brazil 20'000....argentina 20'000.....90% of the population of ireland....alot of spanish.....alot of french.....thats just the main ones, theres another 10 countries to consider too.....not one city could house that lot

Doesn't look like it actually... there are at least four that could in the greater LA area though, with another 2-3 with capacities of just under 50k. I do know for a fact, however, that the state of California has more than enough though ;)

I don't think America actually believes they'll get the next available world cup.

With these things, there's very much an element of having to have your name on the list for a prolonged period of time before you even consider forking out for a serious bid.

there's no need for everyone to slag off the US here, but I do think it's very unfair of the US to expect to host the tournament so soon after the last one. There are scores of countries waiting to host football, and the majority have it as their national sport.

The US will get it's turn again, but at least let some other countries that have the game as their national sport go first.

I liked the opening ceremony, typical American razz ma tazz, loved it when a certain D. Ross missed that "penalty even though it was an open goal :24:

Personally don't think they will get it next time around because they've had in 1994, and it is too soon for them to put on another Finals
