AP) SAN DIEGO - San Diego police say a boy throwing rocks at vehicles was struck in the abdomen by a crossbow bolt fired by a passenger in small sport utility vehicle.
Officer Dino Delimitros says the boy and a friend were throwing rocks in the Linda Vista neighborhood Monday afternoon when a passenger in a black Toyota RAV4 pulled out a crossbow and fired.
The boy was shot in the abdomen and was taken to a hospital. The San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper says his injuries are not life-threatening.
His name and age weren't released.
Nobody has been arrested.

Gee think he learned his lesson? ;)

They say some lessons are best learned the hard way. I tend to agree. :tooth

i hope the guy in the Toyota is charged as well

As do I, while I can appreciate the lesson to be learned here about throwing rocks at peoples vehicles, you can't go around shooting people with crossbows. So, those individuals deserve to be punished as well.

I think its kind of humorous. Not that the kid was shot but that he was shot with a crossbow... Look out for a man hunt for Robin Hood and Frier Tuck....

Serves the little fucker right...

I'm sorry - I have to agree with this. The little bastard shouldn't have been throwing rocks at cars. He's lucky that it was ONLY a crossbow and not a fucking gun. And maybe if his parents actually paid attention to what their "precious snowflake" was doing, this might not have happened at all.

Really, he was a kid for christ sake. Kids do stupid things without really realising how dangerous they might be. I'm not saying the kid doesn't deserve punishment, I also know that at no point in my childhood did I think it was ok to throw rocks at anything let alone cars BUT being shot with a fricken bow and arrow is ridiculous. Call the police and let him face the consequences that way.

Not to mention how dangerous it is to be firing bow and arrows all over the place

I understand that kids do stupid things. However, in today's society, doing stupid things can get you KILLED.

To be honest, I think the parents need to stand up and take some responsibility! Like I said, when I was a child I would NEVER have done something like that because I didn't want to get in trouble with my parents.

Parents don't parent these days!

If my parents ever found out I was throwing rocks at cars, I'd wish that someone had shot me with a crossbow rather than have to go home and face my parents.

To be honest, I have absolutely no sympathy for the kid at all and question the parenting of his parents. Throwing rocks at cars is dangerous. Throwing rocks at any moving vehicle is dangerous. It can seriously harm or even kill people.

Even though he's a kid, it isn't rocket science that something heavy being thrown at cars will have consequences - whether it's denting the car, smashing the window or hitting someone in the car. If he is too young to know this, then surely his parents should be keeping an eye on him ?

I suppose it depends what age the "Boy" was, I mean was he 8 or was he 18? If he was 18, I'd say he deserved it, If he was 8 I'd say maybe he didn't realise how dangerous what he was doing was.

I won't go as far to say as any kid deserves to get a crossbow bolt in the gut. That's draconion.

The weapon used is irrelevant. The intent, if we assume the thrown rocks as being the catalyst, was to kill the child.
