Now I'm like a huge boxing fan... it's my number one Sport & Hobby! But the last Decade has seen a massive decrease in the Boxing Community! ... It's only been the last year or two that's started to look up again!

Just wondering firstly, if there is any other boxing fan's out there? And secondly, what people's views are on the sport!?

Maybe yeh... cause UFC has never been... what you'd call HUGE! But over the last couple of years it's really bloomed over here. They even have UFC events just a few miles from me.

I just think Boxing is an un-regonized sport... which in my opinion is amazing! It's one of the easiest sports to make money in =]

I know from when I was growing up that boxing was a way out of the council estate for those who weren't good at achedemia, or just needed somewhere to go. I think society has changed in England (that's all I can speak for) and boxing is no longer being supported on the grass roots level, the funding is going and so is the enthusiasm. Football is so strong and popular that the other sports fight for scraps and the whim of cricket and dare I say rugby takes many of those who would possibly choose sports like boxing to other fields... Its a shame.

The problem with boxing is we rarely get to have what would be the strongest bouts due to the business and money aspects of it. The heavyweight division has gone to shit since Lennox Lewis retired too.:(

Oh definetly... well said. The only way they can revive Boxing is to bring the best fighters from all weight classes together!

To be fair, they've started to do that alot over the last few months... with
Hatton - Mayweather... and Calzaghe - Hopkins to name but a few...

I think a lot of it is the increase in MMA popularity. Why watch 2 guys fight one style with gloves, when you can watch 2 guys mix a bunch of styles bare-knuckle?

Exactly. Without much depth in the HeavyWeight Division, boxing will only shine so much. Most HW's I see today are fat bastards with heavy hands, who gas way too soon. No one wants to pay to see that.

Have you seen that 7ft Russian guy? Boring as hell to watch, he's slow and only wins because of his size and reach!:(

Bare-knuckle is called Vale-Tudo, or No-Holds-Barred.. That is no where near as popular as the UFC/Pride/WEC/StrikeForce/Elite-XC fighting, who use gloves to keep their knuckles from busting up. You most probably know this already. But others might not.

Anyway. The UFC has grown, but are also facing problems with their growth with major names leaving the organization. Boxing does have it's own problems, but the fans aren't leaving it for UFC. Any time theirs a big name title fight in boxing, huge amounts of people purchase the PPV. The fans are interested in both the UFC and Boxing. They watch both.

Boxing IMO really needs another well known heavyweight fighter. An agressor like Tyson, or a jab master like Lewis..

Boxing aint that dying at all, I mean take Asia and mexico for example; they practically brand boxing as their national sport. I do love to watch Middleweight and featherweight matches, not the heavyweight stuff coz it looks more like a wrestling match. anyway, boxings fun.:clap
