I've heard the term thrown around on this forum when it comes to life and that we're born to die. If that were really true why do our minor wounds heal? Why does our body feel the need to repair itself? If we were truly born to die why does our skin shed to just make new skin while we're alive?

Study your science, that is what living organisms do during their life span. :) I don't have a good link for you but scientists are studying the mechanism that controls life span. You cells reproduce X number of times, and as they do you become like a computer program that becomes more and more corrupt (aging), until you finally stop working. Conceivably, if that mechanism could be controlled, we could stay young and basically live forever.

To get philosophical on the subject, would it be proper to physically live forever, or is there a spiritual plan for us that includes physical death and some other form of existence? You might as well examine the meaning of life while your at it.

we are born to struggle on the darkiling plain and then we die. no heaven or hell. just worms eating our skulls

i identify, but don't wholly believe

if you adapt this idea and let it sink in you are really glad when good days come by and you appreciate the small things.

It's an easy assumption to reach if you limit your consideration to our physical existence. I'm on record as saying that is just a guess, no better or worse, no better odds than if you believe in Heaven and Hell.

yeah I am not saying it's better.

it just works for me since I wasn't raised with religion or faith or to believe I had a life beyond this one.

for me, it makes me appreciate the hell out of this one.
