So who has seen this film? I'm a huge fan of Darren Aronovsky, so I knew I would dig it, but I had no idea what a great film to spur debate this would be. I mean there is a LOT to talk about.

SPOILER ALERT!

There's no way to discuss this without giving away major plot points, so if you haven't seen it and still want to, I'd advise against reading this thread, because their is bound to be LOTS of spoilers.

Who is in to dig into this with me?

It was interesting I was high as fuck when I saw it. The crowd reaction the "sex" scenes was priceless, the older audience members clearly didn't know what to expect

no WAY could I have seen this movie fucked up! It would have messed with me too much.

Good - very good :)

But I can see how it wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

LOVE the end when she does the black swan dance.

Question for those whove seen it:

Do you think she actually died at the end?

or

Was her "death" just part of her complete descent into dellusion a la her transformation into the Black Swan?

The last words in December 9 Rolling Stone mag review (pg. 127):

"You won't know what hit you."

I came out of the theater in an altered state. Powerful and disturbing film but the best I've seen in years.

Who the hell thinks it's about lesbians?? That's not even close. It's about a young woman changing herself to fit a difficult role in the performance of lifetime. It's about performance anxiety, reaching your audience, has-beens, sacrifice and art. There are many metaphors throughout the movie and these metaphors manifest themselves as reality (to the audience). The movie is excellent and Natalie Portman deserves much respect for her performance and for the physical stress she had to endure to star in this film. I'd recommend this movie to anyone with a side note that "everything is not as it seems throughout the movie". It can be confusing at first, but just hang in there and you'll appreciate the movie once you fully understand what's going on.

I'll simplify that for you.

It's a Darren Aronofsky movie. It's about people who are completely, and totally fucked up.

Have to disagree with you there, it is about something else that I don't wanna spoil it for Astria, correct it isn't about lesbianism, but not what you have said
