This stems from the "news" thread. Should parents with a proven track record of not being fit parents and/or not properly taking care of their children be forced to be on some form of birth control?

I dunno exactly... but those that have several run ins with the law or DYFS (or whatever you call child welfare services in your area) would be a good place to start.

No. Dangerous slippery slope right there.

Absolutlely not.

People all make mistakes, we're all only human. And thus we're all entitled to our human rights, one if which is procreation.

And I shoudln't even have to mention to the impractibility of actually policing such a measure

Well, mistakes is one thing... but child abuse and neglect is another... Would you trust an abuser to continue to have kids?

No I wouldn't, but people can't control other people either. If people are guilty of abusing their children or of malicious neglect then the laws we already have should be enforced and they should be put in jail for their crimes.

Well, seeing as how 90% of the time, abusers are not jailed for life- they will get out. I have a hard time believing that these individuals are able to be "cured", therefore allowing them to continue the abuse once they are out on the streets again.

But then you present a completely different arguement, as to whether the judiciary and prisonary systems fulfil their roles.

All I am saying is that you can not force people to take birth control unless they are not under their own care, thus in jail or serving some type of correctional consequence.
