What would you consider as the most desireable screen size for a phone?

They are getting bigger and bigger but will soon be difficult to hold and won't fit in your pocket. Is a 5" screen the right size for practical use?

I think 5" is the acceptable limit, bigger phones are too cumbersome and in my opinion they look a little silly. I want a portable device as a phone, for tasks that require a bigger screen I use my tablet.

Depends on the use I suppose...as long as it will fit in my pocket and hand I am good..I tend to use the phone alot for other than just a phone though, before I started using smartphones I wanted a phone small, but now I want em big..with 5.5 to 6 inch being the upper limit though IMO for carrying in the pocket.
Also to note..women have smaller hands and smaller pant pockets and will have problems with larger phones.

5" screen is too large for me. I'd say a maximum of a 4" screen because I tend to carry my phone around in my pockets. Currently I don't have a smartphone (using a Nokia), but I'll definitely be getting a new phone when I head to University. Going to see how phone sizes get in the future and pick from there, where hopefully the screen sizes don't get bigger and bigger.

I currently have a 4.3 inch..before that I had a 4..the keys are so much easier to hit on the 4.3..although the phone itself isnt that much larger.
However the square rule plays in here...double the screen equals 4 times the screen size in square inches so there fore the difference between a 3 inch screen and a 4 inch in almost double..making the keys so much easier to hit..also the fonts are often easier to see on the larger phones.

Forgetting the aspect ratio for simplicity here{ as the screens are not truly square} but we can still get an idea of the difference in size respectively.
3 inch would be 9 square inches if the screen was square
4 inch would be 16 sq inches if it was square.
5 would be 25 sq inches if it was square.
5.5 would be 30.25 if it was square....almost double the screen size of the 4 inch.
This would be great for surfing the net and as use as a navigator while on the road.

I use a phone for alot more than using just the phone,so I am willing to deal with the extra bulk...I do miss the ole flip phone for simplicity though.

I think a 4-inch screen phone is the best choice for me because it's easier to carry and doesn't feel too bulky in my pocket. I don't really prefer phones with a bigger screen because it's uncomfortable to hold in my hand. If I want a bigger screen device, I would go for a tablet.

I think that a 4 inch phone is the best. I am a very private person but i am also one of those people that live on their phone. I do all my business on my phone and do a lot of my communication on the phone at odd times and occasions. I think that my phone attracts attention already as it is. So with a big screen, people begin to peek into my convos and i absolutely hate that and i think that people should really get lives.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Most people complain about its size. But I think that it has the right fit for my palm. Yes, it could sometimes be a bit hard to put in my pocket when I'm wearing tight jeans but that's okay. The large screen makes it easy for me to surf the web and read eBooks. It's also perfect to play games and watch movies. I even edit some of my documents using the Note 2 and the large screen makes it easier. It's also a joy to draw on a smartphone with a large screen. The stylus helps a lot too.

I am leaning very hard on the note two for my next phone. Samsung also has out a Mega phone with a 6.3 inch screen which I have been looking at but I think its a little to big as the top of the phone would be digging into the hip pelvis area wen the leg is bent while the phone is in the front pants pocket.

I have an iPhone, and I do feel the screen is maybe a bit too big. It's not a big problem, but I've always prefered phones with a smaller screen in the past, it also means it's more compact which I like.

The iPhone has wasted space making the phone larger than it needs to be for the screen size. They need to catch up with technology IMO.

My Galaxy S2 has a 4.2" screen and I really wouldn't want it any bigger, 4.5" is the maximum I'd be happy with. Maybe I just have small hands but high end Androids with their 1080p 5" inch screens are just too unpractical for me. Its not the size of the screen necessarily either but the speaker/button bits which extend over which add to the size.

Too much is just too much. The companies forget that the people went there for a phone, instead they got out with somesort of a tablet that can produce phone calls. It's just not right to have a huge screen in my opinion, because it can break very easily in your pocket, looks irregular when you pull it out and talk on the middle of the street and sometimes, it won't even fit in your pocket.

People are using the phone for more than just the phone and taking advantage of the Web browser , navigation , games, and other apps as well, this is where the larger screen comes in handy at especially when you are.using an app that you can not use the zoom function with.

I like to have a small phone 3/4" and I complement it with my tablet which has 10" and it makes a perfect combo. It feels more comfortable to have a small phone in my face and it feels way better to write in my tablet while on the internet.

I think 5 inches is a bit too big. In my opinion bigger screens is what tablets are for. Not really that practical for something that has the main purpose of making calls. It is getting to be a bit ridiculous if you ask me, but to each their own!

I think the bigger the better. However it should be small enough to fit your pocket. I have HTC Sensation myself, it's good sized, but could be a bit bigger too.
