Anyone here from the UK excited / nervous about the big storm that is supposed to be hitting us tonight and tomorrow morning? The news said the winds are going to 80 / 90 mph, which may not sound like a big deal if you live somewhere that experiences tornadoes or hurricanes, but it hardly ever happens here. The last major storm we had was in 1987!

It's already getting pretty windy out there, so I hope everyone manages to stay safe and nothing major happens.

In Plymouth (South West England) it has been raining pretty much non-stop for the last few hours. Really tempted to get up at 4am (4am is when they expect the storm to be at its most powerful) and record it.

It's gonna be a long night.

I prepped for it by stocking up with essentials like milk, bread & tins, but fortunately the storm didn't effect us in a dramatic way. Trees were uprooted and blocked some roads, large branches were broken, and public transport was almost non-existent. But i think it will get back to normal pretty quickly. 40,000 homes were left without power but i think it only happened to those around the coast.

Unfortunately it seems that two people were killed by falling trees.

Where I live (South Wales), we were supposed to be in the storm's path, but we ended up with virtually no damage at all.

I saw this on the news this morning. They said a boy was swept out to see. How scary. Has it calmed down? Is it mostly wind and rain?
