I would like to add The Man With No Name trilogy to the list.
My favorite quote..

"I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. See, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it . . ."

:D

I never read the book. Who wrote it?

Michael Blake, I believe

i have to say dances with wolves was awesome

but young guns steals it

Love the Young Gun films, I'm very interested in Billy the Kid. Believe it or not, the second Young Guns film was much closer to the truth, even though it seemed much more Hollywood commercial than the first one.

A movie that can be classified as a western is Timerider. About a guy on a motorcycle who goes back to 1875 by accident.
Very good movie.

It's impossible for me to pick a favorite, but the first one that came to mind is "Once Upon a Time in the West," with Henry Fonda,Charles Bronson, and other great actors. It was quite a departure from most westerns, and definitely worth a look-see! :clap

Petey, I gotta hand it to ya. I saw the title here in New Posts and came by to drop "Unforgiven" at the top of my list for movies along with "The Shootist" All time, though, for me has to go to "Lonesome Dove."

"Unforgiven" for my money is absolutely outstanding. "Dances With Wolves" was epic as well.

Good stuff.

Unforgiven is so great because I dont think I've ever seen a Western that deals with death so realistically. It's none of this bang bang you're dead stuff, it shows the people being shot as real people with people who care deeply about them. Superb film!
