the second is one of the worst movies i've ever seen.

along with mad max 3... maybe there is a pattern here..

Mad Max is really the be all end all of post apocalyptic film. You might also want to check out "A Boy and his Dog".

A few have been mentioned already... another one I thoroughly enjoyed is The Book of Eli.

Older and more budget restricted, I enjoyed "Hardware" too.
